University Place Conference Center at IUPUI

— Registration deadline Thursday, May 20, 1999 —

"Information technology is transforming higher education, our society, and the world in which our graduates compete. At Indiana University we seek excellence using and applying information technology. The new jobs of the future will be in the information industries. The states that will prosper are those with these kinds of industries. IU is educating students who will help create and work in these areas. ...Information technology is fundamental ... [it] enables Indiana University to teach more effectively, to open up new frontiers of research and to manage more efficiently. In short, to better serve all Hoosiers."

-- M. Brand, President, Indiana University

Dear Colleague,

On behalf of Vice President Michael McRobbie, the conference committee is pleased to invite you to the fourth annual IU Statewide Information Technology Conference, June 3 and 4 at the University Place Conference Center, Indianapolis, Indiana.

This conference will provide an excellent opportunity for computing center directors and their staff from all IU campuses, departmental technical support staff, and senior managers and others in the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology (OVPIT) and UITS to become fully acquainted with the activities of all the UITS divisions and offices. It will also provide an opportunity for synergies or initiatives that cross campus, departmental and UITS division and office boundaries to be initiated or strengthened. Consequently, plenty of time will be left for discussion after each presentation.

Vice President Michael McRobbie will open the conference with a presentation that reviews recent progress and describes strategic directions for the future.

There is no charge for the conference, but you must register. Please RSVP by registering on the Web no later than Thursday, May 20.

The conference includes a reception (5:30-6:30 p.m.) and dinner (6:30-8:30 p.m.) on Thursday evening, a Friday breakfast buffet (7:30-8:30 a.m.) and lunch as well as break refreshments throughout the conference.
